Hey friends! August is here and summer is wrapping up, But before it does, I want to share my biggest and best (yet) blogging and YouTube online income report with you guys!
Just to fill you in… Here’s what I’ve been up to in growing my business.
I work a day job of a full time 40 hour week. So blogging and YouTube has been in the evenings and weekends, and I therefore use every extra minute I have to build my business. Realizing that there’s not enough time to do it all, I’ve been focusing my time on things that need more growth.
YouTube Growth
More recently, I’ve been slowing down the blog. I truly love it and will continue to post (I did an update here), but I’ve been focusing more on growing my YouTube channel. Honestly because I get much better traffic, so it sounds like more people are interested in finding my content through video. The views I get in one day on YouTube is what I get in about 1.5 weeks of the blog. So I decided to put more effort there.
End of June, I finally got approved for monetization on my channel, so that’s been fantastic! I’ve also done a few collabs with other YouTubers, which has been fun. I post about 3 videos a week and love filming. My birthday was July 29th and my sweet family all went in and bought me the Canon G7X mark ii so I’m set up perfectly to continue making videos! It’s a huge blessing that my family supports me in this way with my endeavors.
Social Media
I’ve also been focusing more on growing my instagram and Facebook platforms. Twitter has kind of gotten a back seat as I work on these two. Pinterest is kind of a social media and more of a search engine, but I know I need to focus on that more too as it pertains more to my blog. Check out my social media accounts if you haven’t already!
Why I Share This
Some may think that sharing this information is too personal. But I am happy to share if it encourages others to get out there and do something they love. I started this blog in 2016 strictly as a hobby and didn’t think I’d ever be able to make money off of it. It wasn’t until this year that I actually got serious about making money off of my blog, and here we are in July with over $1,000 in online income and I am shocked. This month has been a huge encouragement to show me that I really can make this a part-time or full-time gig down the road. If I can do it, so can you.
If you could do something you loved while making money, why wouldn’t you? Starting and up-keeping a blog is very affordable. Which is why I felt like I could take the chance on it. If you’re interested in starting a blog of your own, learn how to start a blog here. But all in all, I’m here to share that if you want to make money blogging, you totally can.
July 2018 Online Business Income Report
Now the part you’ve been waiting for… Again, I want to emphasize that my blog is pretty small right now. But we’re growing little by little. I get about 5,000 page views per month at this stage. Which also goes to show… You can make money blogging. Even with a small blog (this is especially what I love about affiliate marketing).
Here’s how I made $1,080.72 this month.
YouTube Ads: $236.17
This was my first full month having ads on my YouTube channel after how long it took me to get approved, and I’m honestly shocked as to how much I made from just ad revenue with YouTube. I have 3,000 subscribers right now and hope that continues to grow.
Affiliate Income: $568.80
Affiliate income is my favorite way to make money blogging, and I learned all about it from taking the Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing class. If you’re wanting to learn how to make money blogging, this is seriously the class for you. It’s 100% worth it.
Bluehost:$450 The best way to host your own professional blog (this is who I use).
Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing Class:$78.80
Ebates: $0
This was actually a great month for my affiliate income! I’m hoping to continue and build on months like this one.
Etsy: $120
This month I opened my own Etsy shop! It has a couple excel budget templates on it right now that are available for download. These are the same templates I use for my own personal budget, and are full of formulas to help analyze your budget v. actuals. I also use this template on my YouTube channel when I do budget report videos. Each template is $5 so I sold 24 templates this month! Check it out if you’re looking for a zero-based budget template!
Young Living: $155.75
I have previously used a few essential oils and loved them. But a couple months ago, I bought the premium starter kit, and I have have loved using the oils and diffuser in my home. It’s something I feel good about using in my home, and makes everything feel so cozy and welcoming.
And an awesome part of this company (besides the products I first fell in love with) is that you can get paid to share your love for these products–similar to affiliate marketing! If you’re interested in learning more about essential oils or even starting a side hustle with Young Living like I am, email me at marissa@thebudgetingwife.com.
Thankful & Grateful
As I’m writing this, I am on the verge of tears sharing that I made over $1,000 in side income this month. It’s taken work, but the reward is so good. And $1,000 isn’t enough to make me quit my day job, but it’s enough to show that what I’m doing here and my dreams for my business are valid. I love putting in the work with my platform to bring more people to a better financial knowledge, it this is a huge encouragement that maybe someday I can make the leap. For now, I’ll keep it on the side, but we’ll see what’s to come in the next months and years.
