Hi, I'm Marissa!

I’m a mom of 2 boys and a stay at home working mom. I get to spend day time hours with my sons and then work for myself when they’re asleep!

I have been budgeting every single month for the last 7 years and let me tell you… It’s honestly been life changing.

It was rocky at first, but my husband and I eventually settled into the habit of budgeting that allowed us to accomplish big financial goals like paying off debt, building an emergency fund, saving a down payment on a house, and so much more.

Budgeting is also the reason why we get to enjoy our lives as well! Like taking regular family vacations and living the lifestyle of being a SAHM!

I know how overwhelming it can be to have so much debt while your dreams and life enjoyment are on the back burner. But that isn’t how you should navigate your financial journey.

I’ve helped others achieve their financial goals while still enjoying life, and now it’s your turn.

How We Got Here

When my husband, Jacob, and I got married in 2015, we had just graduated college and had over $80k of student loan debt combined! It was quite overwhelming as we were just starting entry-level jobs and didn’t make much.

We had dreams for our future. We wanted to be able to be homeowners some day and have children. I also had the desire to be a stay-at-home-mom. But we didn’t know how we could do all of that with so much debt. So we decided that we wanted to pay it off as soon as possible.

That’s how we started budgeting. Every month we set a plan for our money using a budget. And then we tracked how our spending was going as well as the progress we were making on our debt.

We eventually paid off our debt in 2.5 years, but our journey was not perfect…

During that time, we thought we couldn’t enjoy our lives at all! We lived in a tiny, moldy 1 bedroom apartment. We didn’t go out to eat. We took public transportation, which gave me anxiety every day. Honestly, our lives were miserable at the time. And my mental health suffered because of that.

Did we pay off the debt? Yes.

Was it taxing on our mental health and marriage? Yes!

That’s when we knew that something had to change. We already had a budget. So we began budgeting for fun things in life too as we moved onto our next goal: saving.

We moved to a nicer apartment. We budgeted for regular date nights. We even budgeted for vacation and got to take an amazing trip to Hawaii in 2018! And from there, we found the balance in working on our goals while enjoying life, and working toward those big dreams.

From there, we saved a full 6 month emergency fund, started investing for retirement, saved for a down payment and bought our first house, and contributed to our son’s college savings!

And then the dream… I eventually quit my job to be a stay-at-home-mom!

And we have done these things while taking regular family vacations, regularly eating out, and spending money on things that we enjoy!

Budgeting every month allowed us to do all these things.

And I want to show you how you can too.

Why budget coaching?

By now, you know how valuable and important it is to create a budget. But sometimes that can sound a bit daunting! A lot of people don’t budget because it seems too complicated, overwhelming, not enjoyable, or a difficult habit to start.

I don’t want that for you.

With budget coaching, you can expect your knowledgable coach to set you up in the best way. With creating a custom budget that fits your desires and lifestyle, finding specific ways for you to save money or make the most of your budget, and holding you accountable along the way.

This can save you time and money as you work toward accomplishing your goals faster.

How would you have it?

1. Spend years stuck in your financial situation and frustrated with budgeting?

OR

2. Have a custom plan for how you can accomplish financial goals without sacrificing your dreams and life enjoyment?

I’d definitely take #2!

And you can get there with private coaching

Got questions? We've got answers!

Most frequent questions and answers

Is coaching for me if I’m in debt?

Yes! Definitely. We’ll even make a debt payoff plan together! I made a lot of mistakes in our own debt-free journey that caused my mental health to suffer. I want to help you learn from my mistakes so you can still enjoy life AND pay off debt. We’ll talk about how you can do both.

When will we meet?

Meetings will be held over Zoom. Once enrolled, you will be able to view a calendar and sign up for a time that works for both of our availability. If any of these options don’t work for you, please let me know and we’ll find something that can work!

Do I need a large income for this to work for me?

No! These principles will be applicable no matter your income level. My husband and I tackled our biggest financial goals (paying off debt and saving an emergency fund) while we were making one third what we are now. But I also want to help you find ways to increase that income to get there faster! We’ll talk about ways to increase income in coaching, if needed.

Should my spouse attend coaching calls as well?

If you’re married, I’d highly recommend attending coaching calls together! It’s a great way for you to get on the same page as your spouse. I also understand that this may not work for your schedule, or maybe you’re not at that point with your spouse yet, and that’s okay too.

If I’m trying to get control of my finances, how is this worth the cost?

I totally get that. Why would I spend money on something when I’m trying to be mindful of my money? Coaching will teach you how you can budget and then optimize your budget for greater success. You’ll learn how you can manage money, save money on expenses, make more money, and accomplish your goals faster. So that right there is a return students can expect with this affordable coaching program. Not to mention building a foundation and changing habits that will save money in the future.

And here’s the thing: you’re more likely to put in the work on something when you have bought in with your financial resources. Maybe this is the motivation you need to make a change in your life. That change can be today.

How long will this program last?

We will have three 40 minute budget coaching sessions together over 3 months (one session a month).

Do you offer refunds?

No refunds are available for private coaching. But please talk to me if you aren’t satisfied with your coaching and I’d love to make it right! Meetings cancelled less than 24 hours in advance and no shows will not be refunded.
