An Update On The Budgeting Wife Blog

Hi friends! Happy July! It’s been a great first month of summer, and I wanted to update you on what I’ve been up to!

I haven’t posted for a while on my blog, as life has seemed quite busy! As most of my readers know, I work a full-time job on top of running my blog. And work recently has been quite busy! I work in accounting and our fiscal year just ended. So with that said, I have felt so exhausted coming home from work and haven’t had the motivation to sit down and work on the blog when I’m so tired.

It’s been a bummer and I’ve felt so bad that I haven’t been keeping up with the blog lately! But sometimes, you need to take a little break. And that’s exactly what I did.

YouTube Channel Update

I’m also excited to update with you guys that my YouTube channel got approved for monetization! It’s been a long time coming, and I’m so thankful that I’m now approved. I have been making money on my videos since the end of June and I hope to continue to grow my channel!

With that being said, I’ve been putting more of my free time into growing my YouTube channel. And that’s honestly because I’ve seen better success there. I have more subscribers and many more views on my YouTube channel than I do on my blog.

It seems that my audience is more interested in watching the content I create rather than reading it. And that’s fine! My goal is to reach others with a debt-free and personal finance message, and if I can do more of that through YouTube, then I am thankful.

What’s Next For The Blog?

I love my blog. My heart will always first be with the blog. With that being said, it’s time to slow it down a little bit. At least for now. There’s only so much time in the week and I want to focus my time on what’s going to reap the biggest reward. Which, again, is why I’m choosing to spend more time on my YouTube channel.

But don’t worry! The blog isn’t being shut down! Instead, you’ll see posts a little less frequent. My goal is one a week for now.

Perviously, I was doing 2-3 posts a week and it was too much too fast. A lesson that I for sure learned in recent months. I got burned out. And this joy of blogging began to feel like a chore.

So instead, I’m refocusing my mindset on this blog being a fun hobby. It started out as a fun hobby, and when I was more excited about it, that’s honestly when I had the best growth.

You know that I am a huge fan of blogging and encouraging others to start a blog of their own, and I still stand behind that. I just need to refocus on the joy that I get from blogging, rather than making it feel like work.

Long-Term Goals For The Budgeting Wife

Now that I have my blog and YouTube channel, I feel that I’m becoming a brand! What?!?! ha!

Anyway… Between all my platforms, I have big long-term goals for myself and this business. And I want to share them here because it’s fun to look back on, and I think sharing your goals and dreams with others has so much power.

A long-term goal for my online business is that I would be able to do this either full or part-time.

I truly do love my day job, but if I could go down to part-time and have the flexibility of working on my own business, that would be the dream!

I think about someday when we have kids, and how amazing it would be for me to make money from home. Getting to set my own schedule, be with babies and make money.

That is the end goal that I’m hoping could become a reality in a couple years.

Between now and then, I will be attending FinCon in Orlando in September. I am super excited about the trip to be able to meet others, and learn how they’re winning with their online businesses. I hope to come away from that event feeling encouraged, refreshed, and ready to take on the world!

Seriously, Thank You

Also, I just wanted to thank you all for following along with my blog. I was so nervous to start this blog 2 years ago, and I have received better feedback than I ever thought I would receive! I’ve felt so encouraged by all your kind words. I know that this is what I’m supposed to be doing, and I don’t want to let you guys down.

Thanks for reading my posts, commenting, and sharing with your friends. My goal to make a difference for others in their personal finance journey comes to fruition when you share your stories of how something I said encouraged you to pay off debt, or save for the future. It is something I am still blown away from.

If you aren’t already, please head over to my channel and subscribe! I’m posting 3 videos a week and am loving it. P.S. I might be buying an actual camera soon. 🙂

Thanks, friends!
