Side Hustles: 5 Real Ones You Can Do From Home

Having a side hustle is an awesome way to generate more income so that you can accomplish financial goals. Whether it’s paying off debt, or beefing up that savings account, a side hustle can be a fun way to add to your monthly income.

I myself have done a few side hustles! For about a year during our debt-free journey, I worked from home doing marketing for a financial advisor office. It was a great side hustle being able to do all my work from home while updating social media and website content. I have also been doing my blog as a real side hustle for about 6 months. Both of these side hustles have added extra income into our monthly budget and have allowed for us to pay off debt sooner!

When you first think of side hustles, you may think of delivering pizzas or driving for uber. Both are great ways to earn extra money. But there are side hustles that you can do from the comfort of home! Here are 5 real side hustles that you can do from home.

1. Start A Blog

This is something that I get to do from home and love it! Now this isn’t a get-rich-quick way to make money. It will take time. But if you’re passionate about sharing things you love with others, then blogging might be a great side hustle for you!

Starting a blog is affordable and enjoyable if it’s something you’re passionate about. You can learn more on how to start a blog here, and how to make money blogging here.

I host my blog with Bluehost and have loved the service I’ve received! At $3.95 a month, it’s cheap and allows me to run a professional site. I also took the Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing class, that taught me all about how to make money with my blog! Starting a blog doesn’t need to be expensive, but I would recommend spending on these two things to get you up and running and learning how to make money with your blog!

This side hustle can have a wide range of income. From a couple hundred a month once you’re up and running, to thousands a month! If you think you’d enjoy blogging anyway, I would definitely recommend looking into how you can make money from it!

2. Teaching Online With VIPKid

VIPKid is an online company that needs teachers to teach English to children around the world! Teachers are provided with the lesson plans and communicate with students, and all they need to do is have a passion for teaching children!

All you need is a computer. This is where you would teach via video conferencing (similar to Skype). You get to pick your own hours and have that great flexibility! And you don’t necessarily need any professional teaching background to become a teacher. This side hustle can earn you up to $22/hr!

You earn Swagbucks points for every survey you take, and then you get to cash out your points for real gift cards! Even PayPal gift cards, so basically free money.

Again, this isn’t something that you’ll make a ton of money from, but it doesn’t hurt to make a few extra dollars while you’re sitting on the couch watching Netflix. Just take out your computer and start taking surveys!

5. Become A Virtual Assistant

Virtual assistant jobs are becoming more and more popular. Smaller companies (including bloggers) often need virtual assistants to take care of administrative work for their business. Things like scheduling social media and Pinterest content, responding to emails, and coordinating schedules. The great thing about this work is that you can do it all from your computer!

There are a couple ways to find virtual assistant jobs. There are some websites that show open jobs that you can always browse. You can also reach out to larger blogs to see if they are in need of someone to handle those sorts of duties for them.

If you have administrative and organizational strengths, this is a great way for you to make extra money from home as a side hustle.
